contextflow Joins the Fight Against COVID-19

Upon completing medical school, most physicians take the Hippocratic Oath. A portion of this pledge reads as follows: “I will use treatment to help the sick according to my ability and judgment.” Perhaps these words were never so meaningful as they are now. Thank you to those of you healthcare warriors, both front and back office, for your selfless service in this time of global need, for the sleepless nights, for the time away from loved ones, for your reassurance that we will get through this and learn a lot in the process. We’ve received a lot of inquiries lately as to whether or not our software can support COVID-19 detection. Indeed radiology plays a vital role in the diagnostic process for this virus, and the majority of our work has been with lung CTs, which are now being used as part of the diagnostic process for suspected cases. contextflow SEARCH already supports COVID-19-related patterns, including ground glass, consolidation, reticulation and honeycombing. It should be clear, however, that from a clinical point of view detection of these patterns alone cannot be used for COVID-19 diagnosis.

To better serve the global health community, we are working daily with our partner hospitals, clinics and industry partners on how we can best provide additional value to radiologists. For COVID-19 we are now gradually enabling our triage and detection capabilities for research and scientific use only. Collecting COVID-19 DICOM data is a key part of the process, and if you are in possession of or have knowledge about such data, we would be grateful to hear from you.
