contextflow is a spin-off of the Medical University of Vienna (MUW), the Technical University of Vienna (TU) and the European research project KHRESMOI. Founded in July 2016, contextflow was awarded the distinction of Most Promising Startup 2016 by the BCS Search Industry, received the Digital Innovation Award by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research in 2017 and was selected as one of 19 startups out of 700+ applications to participate in the Philips HealthWorks accelerator program. In 2019 we won Best Pitch – Healthcare at the Pioneers Festival in Vienna, and the Central European Startup Awards awarded us Best Healthcare Startup – Austria.

Our Co-founders include leading AI and medical imaging experts with over 40 years’ combined experience in machine learning on medical image data and creation of efficient AI software development frameworks and 250+ peer reviewed publications for machine learning and image processing in medical computer science. And our international advisory board includes the current president of the European Society of Radiology, the president of the International Society of Radiology as well as the Head of Radiology at the General Hospital of Vienna (AKH).

We are currently testing our 3D image-based software with international proof of concept partners throughout Europe.

Our Vision

See beyond a single case

In the future, effective treatment decisions will be driven by comparing a patient to others for whom we have evidence of treatment, treatment response & outcome.

The ability to find patient groups whose history informs the understanding of a single patient’s future is key.

contextflow strives to be the search engine empowering radiologists to make this possible.
